Moroccan Carpet Beni Ouraian

Honour whoever it is. Beni Ourain is undoubtedly the most emblematic of the Amazigh carpets. It is the warmest, and the softest. It is 100% pure wool and you will generally find it white with fine black or brown geometric patterns.

Originally, they actually come from the Atlas mountains where sheep give a soft and dense wool, in the first degree. They are woven by Amazigh women from the richest families who have the opportunity to buy the large quantities of first-shearing wool needed to make each Beni Ouarain Moroccan carpet.

Today, due to tourism and the development of Moroccan craftsmanship, it is not to be believed that all Beni Ouarain are made in the remote villages of the High Atlas. However, production remains largely artisanal, carried out by those who learned from their parents and inherited the great traditional looms. The craftsman also dares to mix his own creativity with tradition and often proposes rarer colours or original patterns.
