Kilim Moroccan Carpet

Moroccan Kilim or Hanbel carpets are often called Kilim, Klim or Kelim (Turkish word), a name derived from the Persian "Gelim". Kilim means an embroidered carpet instead of being knotted.

These carpets symbolize the identity of the tribes that weave them, which is why their decoration is specific to each tribe. Kilim carpets are decorated with geometric figures, such as triangles and diamonds, and are often less colourful but with a more refined decoration.

They are still very different. Their special weaving makes them lighter and finer. I find them particularly pleasant in summer, in bright rooms or verandas. Here again, the reasons are very different. They make me think of the ocean and its waves, seen through the mists of a sweet dream.

They are rugs woven from sheep's wool. They are reminiscent of Amazigh history and the heritage of Morocco and differ from the Turkish or Persian kilim in their patterns, thickness and weaving technique. If you want a very colourful, light and easy to maintain carpet, the Moroccan kilim is the carpet that could suit you.
